Indian sports wrap, December 27: Niemann confirms entry for International series in Gurugram, rain plays spoilsport at AITA National series juniors
The ranking champion of the International Series this season, Joaquin Niemann, has confirmed participation in the $2 million event scheduled to be hosted by the DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram from January 30 to February 2.
Niemann had won two events in Mayakoba and Jeddah this year, apart from being tied second and third twice each.
Earlier, the reigning US Open champion, Bryson DeChambeau had confirmed his place in the Indian event, along with the host Anirban Lahiri.
It will be the first of ten International Series events in 2025, which would then move to Macau, Morocco, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia among other countries.
The series, which has also been hosted in China, Egypt, Scotland, Singapore and Vietnam over the last two years, offers players from around the world a chance to enter the LIV Golf League.

Vaishnavi Adkar outplayed second seed Zeel Desai 6-0, 6-2 in the semifinals of the $15,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament at the Ace Academy in Palodia on Friday.
In the final, Vaishnavi will play Elena Jamshidi of Denmark who beat top seed Ekaterina Yashina in three sets.
Vaishnavi also made the doubles final in partnership with Pooja Ingale, and will play the Japanese Honoka Kobayashi and Anri Nagata.

Matches in the AITA National series junior tennis tournament had to be postponed at the CLTA Complex, owing to persistent rain. The semifinal matches will resume on Saturday.
