Arabian Gulf Cup 2024: Renard’s Saudi Arabia knocks out defending champion Iraq, wins semifinal 3-1

Abdullah Al Hamddan scored a late brace as Saudi Arabia beat defending champion Iraq 3-1 in the semifinals of the Arabian Gulf Cup 2024, at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait on Saturday.

It is was a major turnaround for the Saudis which had been struggling to perform under former Italian head coach Roberto Mancini. However, it turned to former head coach Herve Renard for solutions, with the Frenchman switching from the France Women’s National Team to Saudi Men in October this year.
