Premier League 2024-25: Transition from Ten Hag to Amorim will be tough, says Maguire

Manchester United’s transition from Erik ten Hag to Ruben Amorim is not going to be easy as their styles are completely different but the squad has full faith in the new manager, defender Harry Maguire said.

Under Amorim, United has won four, drawn one, and lost five across competitions. In the Premier League, the Portuguese coach has racked up two wins which came against Everton and Manchester City.

Ahead of the clash against Newcastle United, which will be the Red Devils’ last fixture of 2024, United is languishing in 14th place in the points table – six points off safety and 13 off top four.

“The thing is with the managers and the styles, it is not like they have come in and they have similar styles,” Maguire told Sky Sports in an interview published on Sunday.

“They are the total opposite in terms of what they want and what they demand.

“So the transition period is going to be tough. We all have great belief in the manager and all his coaching staff. I am sure things are going to turn around.”

After hosting Newcastle in the league, United travels to Merseyside to face leader Liverpool next Sunday before going to London in an FA Cup third round fixture against Arsenal.
