ZIM vs AFG: Hashmatullah Shahidi breaks Rahmat Shah’s record of highest individual score by an Afghanistan batter in Tests

Hashmatullah Shahidi registered the highest individual score by an Afghanistan batter in Test history during the first Test against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on Monday.

Afghanistan skipper Shahidi scored 246 runs off 474 balls, featuring 21 fours, as he batted for almost nine hours to bring up his second double century in the red-ball format.

Shahidi had made unbeaten 200 against the same opponent in 2021, which was the highest individual score by an Afghanistan batter in the longest format till Rahmat Shah broke it with 234 runs off 424 balls in the ongoing Test.

However, Shahidi reclaimed the record as he took a single off the first ball of the 188th over of Afghanistan’s innings.
