Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024/25: Prabhsimran Singh, Abhishek Sharma record joint second-highest first-wicket partnership in VHT

Punjab’s opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh on Tuesday recorded the joint second-highest first-wicket partnership in the Vijay Hazare Trophy during their match against Saurashtra at the Gujarat College Cricket Ground in Ahmedabad.

The pair added 298 runs for the opening wicket, equalling the record by Bengal’s Sudip Gharami and Abhimanyu Easwaran from 2022.

The record for the highest partnership in tournament stands at 416 runs by Tamil Nadu’s N. Jagadeesan and B. Sai Sudharsan. This also the highest opening wicket stand across all List A competitions.

Prabhsimran scored 125 off 95 deliveries while Abhishek notched up 170 off 96 as Punjab blazed its way past 300 runs in the 32nd over.
