Payal Kapadia Misses Out on Golden Globe Opportunity

Mumbai-based filmmaker Payal Kapadia directed the movie “All We Imagine as Light,” starring Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Saha Kadam, and Hruthu Haroon. This film created a milestone by winning the Grand Prix at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. Following this achievement, it was also nominated for the Golden Globe Awards in the categories of Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film.

This marked the first time an Indian filmmaker was nominated in the Best Director category at the Golden Globe Awards, raising significant anticipation. The awards ceremony took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles yesterday at 6:30 AM IST.

However, the film did not win in either the Best Director or Best Foreign Language Film categories. The Best Director award went to Brady Corbet for “The Brutalist,” while the Best Foreign Language Film award was won by the Spanish film “Emilia Perez.” Despite not winning, Payal Kapadia received widespread appreciation on social media for bringing honor to India.
