Malaysia Open 2025: HS Prannoy’s match interrupted after roof starts leaking

HS Prannoy’s match against Brian Yang of Canada in the first round of the Malaysia Open was interrupted after the roof of the playing arena started leaking midway of the fixture.

It was first discovered that water was falling from the roof when the players were engaged in a rally during the second game. That point was not counted as one of the service judges noticed the leak.

The match has been suspended for more than an hour now, with towels being laid on the court to counter the leakage from above.

The Indian shuttler won the first game 21-12, but was leading the second as well before the play was stopped.

Earlier in the day, women’s doubles pair Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand opened its campaign with a win against Thailand’s Ornnicha Jongsathapornparn and Sukitta Suwachai. The scoreline was 21-10, 21-10 in favour of the Indian duo.
