Studio Green clears the legal troubles over the release of Suriya’s “Kanguva”!

Suriya’s upcoming fantasy action epic, “Kanguva,” directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green, faced an unexpected hurdle earlier. A debt dispute put its release in jeopardy, and Studio Green’s KE Gnanavel Raja, the producer, encountered a legal challenge from Reliance Entertainment.

According to Reliance’s complaint, Studio Green took a loan of ₹99.22 crores to produce various films, including Chiyaan Vikram’s “Thangalaan,” but has only repaid ₹45 crore, leaving ₹55 crore unpaid. Reliance filed an injunction in the Madras High Court against SG seeking repayment of the 55 crore loan. The court put a hold on the theatrical release of “Kanguva” and the OTT release of “Thangalaan” last month.

As per the latest development, Reliance’s senior counsel revealed that ₹18 crores of the remaining debt was recently settled by Mango Mass Media on behalf of Studio Green, allowing “Thangalaan” to proceed with its OTT release. Studio Green’s counsel assured that the balance would be paid by tomorrow. If the commitment is met, “Kanguva” should see a smooth release, bringing the long-awaited spectacle to screens without any delay.
