Thalapathy 69: Bhagavanth Kesari remake rights with Vijay film’s producers!
For a while now, speculations of whether Thalapathy 69 is a remake of Bhagavath Kesari (2023) or not, has plagued actor Vijay’s last film. Two weeks ago, news broke out that while Thalapathy 69 is not a remake, there are a few scenes that have been adapted from Bhagavanth Kesari.
Now we hear Thalapathy 69 makers i.e. KVN Productions hold the remake rights to the Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer. Reportedly, Bhagavanth Kesari remake rights were bought by Thalapathy 69 makers to avoid legal impediments like copyright notice.
Bhagavanth Kesari written and directed by Anil Ravipudi, is a Telugu action thriller that follows an ex-cop turned prisoner, who upon release from jail becomes the guardian of his friend’s daughter (Sreeleela). The movie currently available to stream on the Amazon Prime Video OTT platform, tells the tale of why Nandamuri Balakrishna left the police squad, and how he manages to get Sreeleela interested in joining the Indian Army, as per her late father’s wish.
Thalapathy 69, written and directed by H. Vinoth is also said to feature Vijay as an ex-cop, with a story focussing on why his character left the squad. Vijay’s white-beard look for Thalapathy 69 resembles that of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s in Bhagavanth Kesari. The presence of Mamitha Baiju, Bobby Deol, and Pooja Hegde in Thalapathy 69, has further fuelled rumours that these actors are reprising Sreeleela, Arjun Rampal, and Kajal Aggarwal from Bhagavanth Kesari.
