Duminy quits as South Africa’s white-ball batting coach due to personal reasons
JP Duminy has stepped down as South Africa’s white-ball batting coach due to personal reasons, the country’s cricket board announced on Friday.
“Cricket South Africa (CSA) announces that JP Duminy has stepped down from his role as the white-ball batting coach with immediate effect, following a mutual agreement with CSA based on personal reasons,” said CSA in an official statement.
Former left-handed batter Duminy, who played 46 Tests, 199 ODIs and 81 T20Is for South Africa between 2004 and 2019, was appointed as the batting coach for the limited-overs formats in March last year.
South Africa reached the semifinals of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 and finished runner-up at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup this year.
CSA also said that the process to find the replacement of Duminy is underway and the appointment of a new white-ball batting coach will be announced soon.
South Africa’s next white-ball assignment comprises a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series, both at home, against Pakistan from December 10.
