ISL 2024-25: Sunil Chhetri becomes the oldest player to score hat-trick in Indian Super League

Bengaluru FC’s Sunil Chhetri became the oldest player to score a hat-trick in the Indian Super League (ISL) during his team’s 4-2 win over Kerala Blasters on Saturday.

Chhetri, 40, scored a treble to overtake Nigerian Bartholomew Ogbeche’s record, who scored a hat-trick at the age of 38 for Hyderabad FC.

This was also Chhetri’s third ISL hat-trick — one for Mumbai City (2015) and two for Bengaluru (2018, 2024) in 166 appearances going level with Canada’s Ian Hume.

Ogbeche leads the list for most hat-tricks in the ISL with four.

Chhetri, who retired from internationals this year, has eight goals in 11 outings for the Blues and is third on the ISL scoring charts this season.

Bengaluru returned to the top of the ISL points table after the win over Blasters.
