Balachandran Ratnavel will head Jio Star’s Tamil business.

Balachandran Ratnavel, who has 30 years of expertise, has been given the duty of overseeing Tamil business across JioStar. His appointment is part of reorganization that follows the formation of the main venture between Reliance Industries Limited. ViaCom18 Media and The Walt Disney Company.

He has been the business head of the Walt Disney Company since 2021.Ratnavel has worked in sales, marketing, and content for a number of well-known organizations. He also contributed to the development of jobs across organizations over time.

Previously, he oversaw VIJAY TV’s fiction content and served as deputy business head for more than 17 years, from March 2004 to November 2021.He has previously worked with Mindshare and Lowe Roche, where he was responsible for the research and marketing portfolios.

The joint venture, in which Reliance owns a 56% stake, merges the media assets of JioCinema, Star India, and Viacom18 to form a media giant worth around 70,352 crore Indian rupees (approximately 8.5 billion US dollars). Supported by 11,500 crores (about 1.4 billion US dollars). Reliance’s investment would enable the new company to operate 100 TV channels, generate more than 300,000 hours of programming per year, and connect with over 50,000 digital subscribers.
