Amaran: Sivakarthikeyan’s film completes 50 days of theatrical run despite OTT availability!
Amaran starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead is a biopic based on the life of late Indian Army major Mukund Varadarajan, who was martyred during a 12-man cordon and search operation at the Qazipathri village of Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir, and was posthumously awarded India’s highest peacetime gallantry award, the Asoka Chakra, for taking down three top ranked Hizbul Mujaheddin terrorists alongside just one other sepoy named Vikram Singh (brilliantly played by actor Bhuvan Arora).
Amaran released in theaters to an overwhelming positive response on October 31, 2024. 35 days later, the film made is digital premiere on Netflix on December 5, 2024. Amaran has been available to stream with Tamil, English, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Brazilian Portugese, and Spanish audio, and English subtitles for 15 days now.
Amaran continues to run in theaters of Tamil Nadu despite the same. Marking Amaran‘s 50 days of theatrical run, actor Kamal Haasan’s production banner Raaj Kamal Films International, that produced the film alongside Sony Pictures International Production, has now unveiled a commemoratory poster.
With Sai Pallavi portraying Mukund’s wife Indhu Rebecca Varghese, Amaran has been adapted from real life events with a particular focus on Chapter 7 ‘I Got Hot, I Can’t Believe It‘, from the book India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Men. Written by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, the chapter on Major Mukund Varadarajan recalls military events from Mukund’s last commanding officer Colonel Amit Singh Dabbas (played by Rahul Bose in Amaran).
