F1: Who is new Racing Bulls (VCARB) driver Isack Hadjar?

The ‘silly season’ is finally over with the announcement of Red Bull junior driver Isack Hadjar’s promotion to the Racing Bulls (formerly VCARB) Formula 1 outfit for the 2025 season, the team announced on Friday.

Hadjar will partner Yuki Tsunoda and join RB as Liam Lawson’s replacement, who will drive alongside Max Verstappen in Red Bull after Sergio Perez parted ways with the outfit.

French-Algerian driver was a part of the Formula 2 championship battle that went down to the final race of the season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Unfortunately for Hadjar, he stalled his car on the start line and was unable to get himself back in the race, handing the title to Gabriel Bortoleto.

Born and raised in Paris to an Algerian family, the 20-year-old began competitive kart racing aged seven.

He has been a member of the Red Bull Junior Team since 2022, Hadjar made his free practice debut in Formula One at the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix.

Hadjar’s racing career began in the Ginetta Junior Winter Series. He progressed through the junior ranks, securing notable positions in French F4 (third in 2020), Formula Regional European Championship (fifth in 2021), and Formula Regional Asian Championship (third in 2022). In 2022, he also competed in FIA Formula 3, achieving multiple wins.

His impressive performance led to a promotion to FIA Formula 2 in 2023, where he finished as runner-up in 2024.
