ISL 2024-25: Cleiton and Diamantakos says East Bengal taking one step at a time amid resurging form
East Bengal, despite its resurging form, looks to be reluctant to look too far ahead and want to take one step at a time, in a bid to improve its current position in the league table.
Dimitrios Diamantakos’ 60th minute-strike propelled EBFC to a 1-0 win over Jamshedpur FC at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday – its third victory in December and fourth in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL).
“We created a lot of chances. As Cleiton said, we need to convert more chances. At the end of the day, it was a good team effort and it’s very important to get clean sheet wins like this. We are taking one step at a time and are currently focused on our next away match against Hyderabad FC,” Diamantakos said.
While Diamantakos scored his eighth goal of the season on Saturday, EBFC captain Cleiton Silva put in a tireless shift, registering four chances, six crosses and a passing accuracy of 83 per cent.
“We played a good game to get three points. Unfortunately, we couldn’t convert some chances and extend the lead. However, Dimi’s goal was enough to fetch us three points. All the boys gave their best and it was a complete team effort. We need to continue doing good work,” Silva said.
