Arun Dhumal to represent HPCA at BCCI Special General Meeting in January
Arun Dhumal and Dhanraj Nathwani will represent the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) and the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), respectively, at the Special General Meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on January 12.
With the positions of secretary and treasurer vacant following Jay Shah’s move to the ICC as the chairman and Ashish Shelar taking over as a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government, the BCCI needs to fill those two spots.
There were initial speculations that Anil Patel, the secretary of the GCA and a known name in cricket administration, could be considered for one of the positions. However, the speculations have now been put to rest as Nathwani’s name features as the GCA representative in the SGM, as per the draft electoral poll, issued by the electoral officer AK Jyoti.
While the current joint secretary Devajit Saikia will represent Assam Cricket Association, surprisingly, the draft electoral list does not feature any representatives from the Cricket Association of Bengal.
Back in 2019, Sourav Ganguly, the then CAB president, had gone on to become the BCCI president, while Avishek Dalmiya, a former CAB chief, is now a member of the IPL governing council.
Objection to the entries in the draft electoral roll may be submitted via e-mail to the electoral officer by 4 p.m. on Sunday and Monday, based on which the final electoral roll will be released.
