Jasprit Bumrah: I could have got Konstas out 6, 7 times in the first two overs
Australia’s Sam Konstas delivered one of the most eye-catching debut performances by a batter in recent times as he smashed a 65-ball 60, against India in Melbourne on Day 1 of the fourth Border-Gavaskar Test.
A highlight of the 19-year-old’s knock was his stunning take-down of India’s premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah, which included a couple of ramps and reverse ramps.
Speaking to Channel 7 on Saturday, Bumrah spoke about his battle with Konstas, while also emphasising that he had the upper-hand over the young opener early on.
“Initially I felt I could have got him out 6-7 times in the first two overs, but that’s how cricket goes, some days it pays off, it looks good, some days if it doesn’t you might be criticising the same person.
Konstas’s first six of his Test career turned out the first maximum Bumrah has conceded in Test in more than three years.
“I have experienced heaps of it. I have played T20 cricket a lot, more than 12 years of T20 cricket. Interesting batsman (Konstas) as well and I always felt I was in the game, I never felt I am far away from a wicket,” said Bumrah.
