Glamorgan fires head coach Grant Bradburn for inappropriate behaviour

Glamorgan has fired head coach Grant Bradburn following a charge of misconduct, the English Cricket County Club announced on Monday.

In an official statement, Glamorgan said, “The club referred Mr Bradburn to the independent Cricket Regulator after receiving allegations of inappropriate behaviour and we are confident that a fair and transparent process has been followed in this case.

“Glamorgan Cricket has a zero-tolerance policy towards discriminatory behaviour of any kind.

“Having completed our own internal investigation, it became clear that Mr Bradburn’s position was untenable, and the club is now providing the appropriate support to those affected.”

The 58-year-old Bradburn, who played international cricket for New Zealand, had signed a three-year deal at the Welsh county side in January this year. Under him, the team won the One-Day Cup and finished sixth in both the second division of the County Championship, and the T20 Blast South Group. He had previously held senior roles with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) since 2018 and was appointed Pakistan’s head coach last year, but the PCB changed the national team’s coaching setup following its failure to reach the semifinals at the ODI World Cup in India.

Mark Rhydderch-Roberts, Chair of Glamorgan Cricket, said, “At Glamorgan Cricket, we put the well-being of our people first and are providing support for those affected.

“We’re incredibly proud of our track record in terms of making sure that everyone who is involved with the club feel they are respected, belong and are treated fairly.”

Bradburn has denied that he treated anyone unfairly. , the Kiwi said “After a very positive and successful first year at Glamorgan County Cricket Club, I’m extremely disappointed with the process I’ve been subject to in recent weeks and am now seeking legal advice,” said Bradburn.

“It’s important for me to note that I would never condone any form of discrimination or treat anyone unfairly.”
