Rybakina’s coach Stefano Vukov provisionally suspended by WTA for breaching Code of Conduct – report
Stefano Vukov, coach of former Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina, has been provisionally suspended due to a breach of WTA’s Code of Conduct, the governing body for women’s tennis confirmed on Friday.
“The WTA can confirm that Stefano Vukov is currently under a provisional suspension pending an independent investigation into a potential breach of the WTA Code of Conduct,” a WTA spokesperson said in a statement, according to
“As part of the provisional suspension, Mr. Vukov is not eligible to obtain a WTA credential at this time. While the WTA does not typically comment on active investigations, we believe it is necessary to clarify this matter due to recent public statements that misrepresent the situation. We will not provide further details at this point in time.”
Russian-born Kazakh Rybakina, currently ranked sixth in the world, parted ways with Vukov in August last year and hired Goran Ivanisevic in November. However, recently, on social media, Rybakina wrote, “Hello everyone, I am excited to announce that Stefano will be joining the team for the 2025 season. Thank you all for the support. And wishing you a great 2025.”
The investigation against Vukov was initiated last year as WTA received complaints about his intense and harsh conduct.
According to the report, Vukov has denied breaching the code and there have been no complaints from Rybakina regarding his behaviour.
Australian Open, the first Major of the season, begins on January 12 and till the investigation is completed, Vukov can neither coach Rybakina nor can he enter practice courts or the player’s box in Melbourne.
