Rashford out of Liverpool vs Manchester United, hints manager Amorim
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has hinted that Marcus Rashford is likely to remain out of the matchday squad in their Premier League match against Liverpool.
Rashford, 27, has fallen out of favour at United and last featured for the Red Devils against Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Europa League on December 13. Though United won that match, Rashford was far from impressive, receiving a yellow card and getting substituted in the 56th minute.
He has been out of the matchday squad since, except for the last clash against Newcastle United on New Year’s eve. Before the match against arch-rival Liverpool, Amorim said that the England international was unwell.
“It’s the same situation but, at the moment, he’s ill,” Amorim said. “I think he’s going to be out this week. He’s not training so we will see.”
Rashford has scored 138 goals in 426 appearances since making his senior debut for the club in 2016, winning the Europa League, two FA Cups and the League Cup twice.
“We will see in the future but this is like a normal player, then I make a selection. So, it’s the same. I think he is going to be out, this week he is out,” Amorim said.
