AUS vs IND, 5th Test: India knocked out; Australia almost certain to face South Africa in WTC final

Australia defeated India by six wickets and won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1 on Sunday and is all but through to the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

The defending champion sits second in the current standings and its win percentage cannot drop below the third-placed team even if it loses 2-0 to Sri Lanka in its forthcoming series.

The Pat Cummins-led side will play South Africa in the final on June 11 provided it does not have points docked for slow over rate in its remaining games.

India, meanwhile, has been knocked out of the race to the final. Coming into the series after a 3-0 loss to New Zealand, India needed to beat Australia or at least draw the five-match series to keep itself in contention.

(Subject to change if any overrate penalties are levied)
