IND vs AUS, 5th Test: Why is India wearing pink kit on day 3?

India wore kits with pink-coloured markings on day three of the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney on Sunday to mark the Jane McGrath Day.

The Indian team presented signed caps to former Australian cricketer Glenn McGrath ahead of the start of day’s play. The third day of the Sydney Test is called the Pink Day in order to raise money for the McGrath Foundation.

The first Test of the year played at the Sydney Cricket Ground is known as the ‘Pink Test’. During the match, the stands, signage around the venue, and even the stumps are coloured pink.

The purpose is to raise awareness about breast cancer. Glenn lost his wife, Jane, to the disease. Following her diagnosis, he founded the McGrath Foundation in 2005.

This foundation collaborates with Cricket Australia to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer patients and survivors.
