Liverpool says Premier League match against Manchester United set to go ahead despite weather warning

The Premier League 2024-25 match between Liverpool and Manchester United is set to go ahead as planned as of 3 pm IST, the Merseyside club announced on Sunday.

The match is scheduled to take place at Anfield as the region currently faces extreme weather conditions which includes snowfall.

However league leader Liverpool, poised to take the bragging rights in this chapter of the storied rivalry between the two sides, said that the match is likely to go ahead.

“A safety meeting was held this morning to assess the weather and travel conditions for today’s fixture against Manchester United at Anfield,” the club posted on X. “At this stage the match is planned to go ahead as normal and every effort is being made to get the game on.”

“A further safety meeting will take place again at midday to assess the latest conditions. We will update supporters just as soon as we can. Please take extra care out there, Reds,” the message ended.

The match kick-off is at 10 pm IST.
