Court Advises Netflix Not to Seek Extensions in Dhanush’s Case

Actor Dhanush has filed a lawsuit seeking Rs. 10 crore in damages, alleging unauthorized use of scenes from the movie “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan” in a Netflix documentary about actress Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan’s wedding. The case was scheduled for hearing in the Madras High Court and has now been postponed to January 22, based on Netflix’s request for more time.

Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s wedding ceremony was documented and produced as a film by Netflix. However, scenes from the movie “Naanum Rowdy Dhaan,” directed by Vignesh Shivan and produced by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, were allegedly used without proper consent. In response, Wunderbar Films filed a lawsuit against Netflix, Vignesh Shivan, and Nayanthara for damages.

During today’s hearing, Justice Abdul Quddhose accepted the request by Netflix to defer the proceedings and directed the case to be heard on January 22. He also stated that no further delays would be entertained.
