Steve Smith smashes century in Big Bash League, equals record
Steve Smith smashed his fourth T20 hundred during the Big Bash League match between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday.
He reached his hundred off 58 balls and equalled the record for most centuries in the BBL, going level with Ben McDermott. Smith slammed his third century in the history of the tournament in just his 32nd innings in the competition, while McDermott has played 100 matches in BBL.
Smith remained unbeaten on 121 off 64 balls, hitting 10 fours and seven sixes, as the Sixers posted 222 for three in 20 overs.
The 35-year-old’s maiden T20 century had come in the 2016 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where he struck a 54-ball 101 for Rising Pune Supergiants against Gujarat Lions.
