FA Cup 2024-25: What happens if Arsenal vs Manchester United ends in a draw?

FA Cup 2024-25: What happens if Arsenal vs Manchester United ends in a draw?

Arsenal is hosting Manchester United in a FA Cup 2024-25 third round tie at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, with the match finishing 1-1 at the end of regulation time.

No, there will not be a replay if the FA Cup 2024-25 third round match between Arsenal and Manchester United ends in a draw. The match will go into extra time and if it stays level, penalties will follow.

FA Cup replays were scrapped from the beginning of this season because of the increasingly busy calendar.

Arsenal thought that they had taken the lead in the first half after Gabriel Martinelli latched onto a deflected pass before slotting the ball past Altay Bayandir in the Manchester United goal.

However, his celebrations were cut short as the flag went up for offside against the Brazilian.

After a goalless first half, United took the lead seven minutes into the second half through Bruno Fernandes who found the back of the net after receiving the ball from Alejandro Garnacho who had made a brilliant run.

However, United was dealt with a blow on the hour mark after Diogo Dalot was sent off after receiving a second yellow for a foul on Martinelli.

Moments later, Arsenal equalised through Gabriel Magalhaes who volleyed the ball from close range.

In the 72nd minute, Arsenal squandered the opportunity to extend its lead when captain Martin Odegaard’s attempt from the spot was saved by Bayandir after Kai Havertz was fouled by Harry Magure.
