Glenn Maxwell scores 90 to resurrect Melbourne Stars’ innings against Renegades in BBL

Melbourne Stars captain Glenn Maxwell scored a scarcely believable knock during the Big Bash League (BBL) match against the Melbourne Renegades at the Marvel Stadium on Sunday.

The Australian batter eventually fell for 90 off 52 balls in the final over of the innings, muscling four fours and ten sixes in his knock to help the team put up 165.

Maxwell was batting on 10 off eight balls when the Stars lost their seventh wicket for 75 at the end of the eleventh over. The 36-year-old then forged an 81-run partnership with Usama Mir where the latter contributed a total of zero runs as the captain hogged most of the strike, allowing the spinner to play only five balls before he holed out in the penultimate over.

Peter Siddle then scored a boundary against Adam Zampa to take the Stars to a respectable total against their city rivals.
