IPL 2025 to begin on March 21, final to be held on May 25

The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will begin on March 21 and the final will be held on May 25.

While the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad will hold the first two qualifiers, Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the second playoff and the final.

Earlier, the BCCI had indicated that the tournament would start around March 14, but following the Board’s Special General Meeting on Sunday, it was decided that the tournament will begin on March 21.

A total of 182 players were sold for Rs. 639.15 crores during the mega auction, held over two days in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in November last year.

Among the 10 teams, most focused on reinforcing their squads after retaining their core players. With not much time left, several franchises have already started conducting their pre-season camps.

It is expected that the final schedule will be announced in the next few days, in consultation with all the stakeholders.
