Superstar Rajinikanth’s next release is Coolie written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and produced by Sun Pictures. Coolie releases in August, 2025 and is the only film release of Rajinikanth in 2025.
Rajinikanth’s next movie after Coolie is Jailer 2, which was officially announced on January 14, 2025 with Nelson Dilipkumar as director, Sun Pictures as the producer, and Anirudh Ravichander as the music composer. Jailer 2 begins shooting in March 2025, and releases in 2026.
After Jailer 2, Rajinikanth’s next collaboration was buzzed to be with Mani Ratnam and Mari Selvaraj. However Mari Selvaraj no longer is a potential director of Rajinikanth’s film, according to MovieCrow’s sources. It is to be seen if Rajinikanth reunites with Mani Ratnam, more than 3 decades since Thalapathi (1991).
