Fire stops Big Bash League match between Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes

Fire broke out during a Big Bash League (BBL) match between Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes delaying the proceedings for several minutes at the Gabba in Brisbane.

The incident happened during the second innings near the scoreboard where the stadium’s DJ was setup. One of the stadium staff members was seen using the fire extinguisher to put the fire out.

People in and around the stands were evacuated and asked to sit somewhere else in the stadium. After a delay the fire was put out.

Hurricanes were 47 without loss in four overs chasing Heats’ 202-run target. After the delay, the match resumed without any overs lost and Hurricanes eventually finished the chase off the last ball to win by five wickets.
