Saudi Pro League 2024-25: Laporte goal rescues Al-Nassr against Al-Taawoun

Aymeric Laporte was on target as the centre-back rescued a point for Al-Nassr at Al-Taawoun in the Saudi Pro League 2024-25 at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah on Friday.

The 1-1 draw meant that Al-Nassr dropped down to fourth in the league standings as Al-Taawoun stayed rooted to eighth.

It was the host which broke the deadlock right at the stroke of half-time. Saad Fahad Al Nasser did well to ripple the net in the 45+5th minute, despite opposition goalkeeper Bento getting his fingertips on the ball.

After the break, Al-Taawoun had a perfect chance to double its lead through Musa Barrow but the forward’s shot was straight at the ‘keeper.

Al-Nassr ramped up its attack and kept the ball in the opposition half which bore fruit for the trailing side. Substitute Angelo Gabriel provided the perfect ball into the box and Laporte had to just guide it into the net with a header to equalise.

The Al-Taawoun backline did well to keep Cristiano Ronaldo quiet throughout the game as the Portuguese had four of his shots blocked.
