ISL 2024-25: Chennaiyin FC signs defender Pritam Kotal from Kerala Blasters

Indian defender Pritam Kotal has completed a move to Chennaiyin FC, the Indian Super League (ISL) club confirmed on Sunday.

He will join the two-time ISL champion on a two-and-a-half-year deal after mutually deciding to part ways with Kerala Blasters FC.

“The defender has already hit the ground running, joining the squad for training earlier today,” CFC announced on social media.

He joined the Blasters before the start of the 2023 season, on a free transfer from Mohun Bagan Super Giant. He went on to make 39 appearances for the club across all competitions, recording a single assist during that time.

“Kerala Blasters Football Club and Pritam Kotal have reached a mutual decision to part ways. We would like to sincerely thank Pritam for his commitment, professionalism, and contributions during his time at the club,” the Blasters said in a post on social media.

After beginning his ISL career in 2013 with FC Pune City, the 31-year-old has gone on to play for Atletico de Kolkata and Delhi Dynamos as well. He has made 146 appearances in the league, lifting the ISL trophy three times during this period.

CFC is currently 10th in the ISL standings with 17 points from 16 games and will host leader Mohun Bagan at home in its next match on January 21.
