Tejas Shirse breaks 60m hurdles National Record at CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting

India’s Tejas Shirse set a new national record in the men’s 60m hurdles heats at the CMCM Luxembourg Indoor Meeting.

He clocked 7.65 seconds in the preliminaries, surpassing the previous national record of 7.70 seconds set by Siddhanth Thingalaya, and qualified for the final.

In the final, the 22-year-old equalled the national record and finished fifth overall, with Polish athlete Jakub Szymański taking first place with a time of 7.41 seconds.

Last year, Shirse also set a new national record in the men’s 110m hurdles at the World Athletics Continental Tour (Challenger level) meeting in Jyvaskyla, Finland. He clocked 13.41 seconds to win the final, breaking the previous record of 13.48 seconds set by Thingalaya in 2017.
