ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025: Vaishnavi Sharma takes hat-trick against Malaysia

Indian spinner Vaishnavi Sharma took a hat-trick during her team’s Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup match against Malaysia at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.

After opting to bat, India bowled the host out for 31 in just 14.3 overs, with Vaishnavi taking a five-wicket haul. Aayushi Shukla contributed by claiming three wickets, while Joshitha V J took one.

The 19-year-old Vaishnavi claimed the wickets of Nur Ain Binti Roslan, Nur Isma Dania, and Siti Nazwah when Malaysia was on 30 runs, completing her hat-trick.

Indian openers Gongadi Trisha and G Kamalini made light work of the target, chasing it down in 2.5 overs to secure a 10-wicket win.

Defending champion India began its U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup campaign in style, clinching a nine-wicket victory over West Indies at the same venue on Sunday.
