Income Tax Raids on Vijay’s Movie Producer and Others

On January 21, 2025, the Income Tax Department carried out extensive raids on leading Telugu film producers in Hyderabad. Notably, Dil Raju, the producer of Vijay-starrer Varisu and owner of Sri Venkateswara Creations, was among those targeted. The raids were conducted across multiple properties, including Dil Raju’s residence, the homes of his brother Sirish and daughter Hanshitha Reddy, as well as several business locations. Dil Raju is also known for producing other major films like Game Changer and Sankranthiki Vasthunam.

Simultaneously, the offices and residences associated with Mythri Movie Makers, the production house behind the blockbuster Pushpa 2, were also searched by Income Tax officials. The raids included the residence of Cherry, the chief officer of Mythri Movie Makers, along with other office premises.

In total, 55 locations across Hyderabad, including the upscale neighborhoods of Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills, were raided during the operation. The coordinated action reflects the Income Tax Department’s increased scrutiny of financial dealings in the Telugu film industry. While the authorities have not disclosed specific details of the investigation, the raids underscore efforts to ensure compliance with tax regulations.

The raids are considered one of the largest operations involving prominent figures in Tollywood, marking a significant moment in the ongoing drive for financial transparency in the industry.
