ISL 2024-25: East Bengal aims to end losing streak against rejuvenated Kerala Blasters at home

East Bengal will be looking to regain its winning form in Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 season as it returns home to face Kerala Blasters FC at the Salt Kale Stadium here on Friday.

Having lost its last three outings on the trot including a 0-1 defeat against traditional rival Mohun Bagan Super Giant, EBFC will be eager to snap the sequence of misfortunes and better its position in the league standings.

The Kolkata-based club is placed 11th with 14 points (from 16 matches) which it has collected from four wins and a couple of draws so far. On the other hand Kerala Blasters currently sit eighth on the table with 21 points from 17 outings.

KBFC will also be looking to secure back-to-back away victories having beaten Punjab FC on January 5 to end a sequence of four losses in away fixtures.

If the Kerala club manages to beat east Bengal it will be the first time since December 2023 that it will register consecutive wins in away matches. Blasters have shown improvement under the charge of interim head coach T.G. Purushothaman by winning three and drawing once in its previous five matches.

Both teams have kept four clean sheets each so far but the Kochi-based Blasters are three points behind the sixth-placed Odisha FC (on 24 points) and will be keen to close the gap with a favourable result in Kolkata.
