ISL 2024-25: NorthEast United signs midfielder Mohammed Arshaf

NorthEast United FC announced the signing of midfielder Mohammed Arshaf on Thursday on a long-term deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2027 season.

Arshaf, 20, joins the club from Super League Kerala 2024 champion Calicut Football Club. He had a superb campaign where he had the most tackles (53 tackles) and was named the Emerging Player of the Tournament.

“I am incredibly honoured and excited to join NorthEast United Football Club. This is a momentous achievement for me, having long admired the club’s standing in Indian football. I am eager to contribute to the team’s success,” Arshaf said after signing with the Highlanders.

“(Naushad) Moosa coach spoke to me about the club’s plans and vision for me, which gave me a lot of confidence and clarity. It convinced me that NorthEast United FC was the right choice for me,” Arshaf added.

The midfielder was also an important part of the Kerala state team that reached the final of the 2024 Santosh Trophy and started in the final against West Bengal.

Starting his football journey during his school days, Arshaf honed his skills at Parappur FC and also participated in the Reliance Foundation Developmental League.

“Arshaf is an excellent young midfielder, who we scouted in the Santosh Trophy. He will bring that freshness to the midfield, and we are delighted to have him here at NorthEast United FC. We cannot wait to see what he brings to the field,” said NorthEast United FC’s head coach Juan Pedro Benali.

“The club is constantly on the lookout for talented players from across India, and we are delighted to have discovered Arshaf, an exceptional midfielder who caught our eye during the Super League Kerala and the Santosh Trophy. We are committed to nurturing young talent, and the club has always placed its trust in youth. Arshaf’s performances on the field were impressive, and we are excited to welcome him to the club,” Naushad Moosa, the club’s assistant coach, added.
