Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Rohit Sharma opens innings with Jaiswal for Mumbai against Jammu & Kashmir
Rohit Sharma made a return to domestic cricket after almost a decade as he opened the innings for Mumbai alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in their Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir at the BKC Ground on Thursday.
Mumbai won the toss and chose to bat first.
Rohit made himself available for selection after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made it mandatory for India internationals to play domestic cricket. The batter was then named in Mumbai’s 17-player squad for the J&K match.
Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane put his confidence in the India Test and ODI captain to inspire the youngsters in the dressing room. “It’s great to have Rohit back after so many years for Mumbai. Everyone can learn a lot from him. Personally, Rohit and I have played together since age-group cricket and for India, so I think his inputs over the next four days will be extremely important,” Rahane said on Wednesday.
The last time Rohit played in the Ranji Trophy was back in November 2015 when he scored 113 runs against Uttar Pradesh.
