Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Siddharth Desai takes 9 for 36 vs Uttarakhand, records best spell by a Gujarat bowler
Spinner Siddharth Desai took nine wickets against Uttarakhand in a Ranji Trophy match at the Gujarat College Cricket Ground A in Ahmedabad on Thursday to record the best spell by a Gujarat bowler in First-Class cricket.
The left-arm orthodox bowler ended the innings with 9-36 to break Jasubhai Motibhai Patel’s figures of 8-21 recorded during the 1960-61 season against Saurashtra.
Vishal B Jayswal took the 10th wicket for Gujarat as Uttarakhand was bundled out for 111 in 30 overs.
Siddharth’s nine-wicket haul began in the fifth over when he quickly sent P S Khanduri, Samarth R, and Yuvrah Choudhary back to the dugout in the space of four deliveries.
He completed his five-for within the first 15 overs after he removed by trapping Kunal Chandela’s leg before the wicket and castling Mayank Mishra.
Siddharth’s sixth wicket was of well-settled opener Avneesh Sudha who went for 30 runs off 47 balls. The tweaker went on to remove Aditya Tare, Abhay Negi, and D Dhapola.
Last November, Haryana’s Anshul Kamboj had become only the sixth Indian to take all 10 wickets in an innings in First-Class cricket during the match against Kerala.
