Thalapathy 69 release date getting pushed from Diwali 2025 to Pongal 2026?
Actor Vijay’s last film Thalapathy 69 (tentative title) is gearing up for a first look release on January 26, 2025. A KVN Productions venture, the movie written and directed by H Vinoth was scheduled as an October 2025 release at the time of its announcement. Naturally it was expected that Thalapathy 69 will be a Diwali 2025 release, considering the festival falls on October 21 this year.
However, a recent buzz suggests that Thalapathy 69 might get pushed from Diwali 2025 release to a Pongal 2026 release next January. An official announcement on Thalapathy 69 release is expected along with its first look and title reveal on Republic day Sunday.
It is worth mentioning here that Vijay as the President of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagan i.e. the TVK political party, will contest in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections in May 2026. It remains to be seen if the actor will opt to have his last film release close to election campaigning and works. It is also worth mentioning here that Thalapathy 69 was announced with the tagline, “The torch bearer of democracy, arriving soon”.
