Bundesliga 2024-25: Werder Bremen holds outnumbered Dortmund to 2-2 draw
Borussia Dortmund, under interim coach Mike Tullberg, squandered a two-goal advantage before drawing 2-2 at home to Werder Bremen on Saturday but did snap its four-game losing run across all competitions.
Dortmund parted ways with coach Nuri Sahin on Wednesday, one day after its 2-1 Champions League loss to Bologna, appointing youth coach Tullberg for the game against Werder.
In an eventful debut for the Dane, the hosts suffered an early setback when Felix Nmecha went off injured and things got worse when defender Nico Schlotterbeck was sent off with a red card in the 20th.
But Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy headed in from close range in the 28th minute to put it in the driving seat.
The Guinea international also had a hand in its second goal when Werder’s Marco Friedl turned his cutback into his own goal in the 51st.
The visitors, however, were given far too much space and pulled a goal back through Leonardo Bittencourt in the 65th. Marvin Duksch completed the comeback with a good finish and Werder still had enough chances for a winner with Dortmund desperately hanging on for the point.
Dortmund is in 10th place on 26 points.
