List of Australian Open women’s singles champions in Open era: Keys wins maiden Grand Slam title at 2025 edition

Madison Keys won her maiden Grand Slam title on Saturday as she defeated World No. 1 and two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 in the Australian Open final in Melbourne.

Keys is the 29th different women’s champion in Melbourne in the Open era.

Keys had also beaten World No. 2 Iga Swiatek of Poland in the semifinals despite facing a match point. The 29-year-old American is the first woman since Serena Williams in 2005 to defeat the World No. 1 and No. 2 at the Australian Open.

Serena has the most Australian Open women’s singles titles (7) in the Open era.
