Dil Raju Explains Tax Audit Necessity on 20-Lakh Account

In Hyderabad, the Income Tax Department conducted extensive searches across the residences and offices of popular film producer Dil Raju, the producers of the movie “Pushpa,” and the office of Mango Media, which finances Dil Raju’s projects. Over 55 teams were involved in these operations, which began on October 21 and continued for five days until yesterday morning.

Questions were raised regarding the funding sources for filmmaking and the actual box office collections of recent movies. Additionally, bank accounts and lockers owned by Dil Raju were scrutinized. This investigation created a stir in both Telugu and Tamil film industries. Reports revealed the seizure of several documents, gold and silver items worth ₹3 crore, and ₹26 crore in cash.

After the Income Tax Department’s probe, Dil Raju addressed the media in Hyderabad yesterday. He clarified, “The inquiry revealed discrepancies for only ₹20 lakh, which I need to account for. Over the past five years, I have not invested in any other business. The Income Tax officials themselves appreciated the clean state of my financial accounts. However, reports in the media claiming the seizure of multiple documents, cash, and jewelry are false.”
