I-League 2024-25: Real Kashmir FC continues undefeated home record with 2-0 win over Dempo SC

Real Kashmir FC continued its undefeated home record in the I-League 2024-25 with a fluent 2-0 victory over Dempo Sports Club at the TRC Football Turf in Srinagar on Sunday.

For the home side, both goals came in the second half through Lalramsanga and Abdou Karim Samb as Snow Leopards sealed their fourth home victory of the season.

The match also highlighted the strategic prowess of former India international-turned-coach, Ishfaq Ahmed, whose pragmatic team outplayed Samir Naik’s side with solid defending and swift counter-attacks.

Dempo failed to make the most of the chances as Shaher Shaheen and Seigoumang Doungel missed good opportunities.

The host, on the other hand, struggled to break down the Dempo defence in the first half despite several attempts.

In the second half, Real Kashmir increased its intensity and broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute. A botched clearance by Dempo’s defence landed perfectly for Lalramsanga, who unleashed a formidable left-footed strike from 25 yards out. The sheer power of the shot was too much for a diving Dempo goalkeeper Ashish Sibi, who could only watch as the ball flew past him.

It then doubled the lead in the 58th minute through a well-executed play on the right flank. Paulo Cezar delivered a precise cross into the penalty area, finding Senegalese Karim Samb perfectly positioned to head the ball into the net, marking the second goal for the hosts.

This win helped the Srinagar-based club move to the fifth position in the league standings with 16 points from 10 matches.

Meanwhile, Dempo SC continued to struggle as they remained mired in eighth place with 11 points from 10 matches.
