Jannik Sinner continued to occupy the No. 1 spot in the latest ATP Rankings released on Monday after winning his second straight Australian Open title.
The Italian defeated World No. 2 Alexander Zverev 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3 to clinch his third Grand Slam title in Melbourne on Sunday.
Germany’s Zverev suffered his third loss in as many career Major finals.
USA’s Tommy Paul, who lost to Zverev in the quarterfinals, jumped two spots to make his Top 10 debut. The 27-year-old American is the new World No. 9.
Daniil Medvedev, last year’s runner-up, was knocked out by American teenager Learner Tien, a qualifier, in the second round. The Russian slipped two spots to seventh.
Ten-time champion Novak Djokovic was forced to retire after losing the first set against Zverev in the semifinals due to injury. The Serbian, who had gone down to Sinner at the same stage last year, dropped one place to sixth.
