Parasakthi Title Issue: Sivaji film’s original producers claim no permission was obtained!

Parasakthi (1952) is a Tamil film based on an eponymous play by Pavalar Balasundaram, and is a production venture of P. A. Perumal Mudaliar founded National Pictures. The Parasakthi posters from that era also reveal the inclusion of AVM Studios in the film’s production, though National Pictures to date remain the original producers of the movie. 

Recently, the Dawn Pictures produced Sivakarthikeyan film revealed its title as Parasakthi, titled after this vintage Sivaji movie. However given the cult status the 1952 Parasakthi enjoys, Dawn Pictures producer Aakash Baskran released a lengthy statement that read, 

 

Notably, National Pictures was nowhere mentioned in this statement, and now R Karthikeyan, the grandson of Perumal Mudaliar, has revealed that Dawn Pictures did not obtain title permission from them. He has also added that AVM Productions was the regional distributor of the Sivaji starrer Parasakthi at the time of the film’s release, and that National Pictures continues to be the producer of the movie.
