AFC Champions League 2024-25: Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace helps Al Nassr beat Al Wasl 4-0

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace as Al Nassr thrashed UAE club Al Wasl 4-0 in their AFC Champions League Elite group clash at the Al Awwal Park on Monday.

The Portuguese star scored on either side of halftime while Ali Al-Hassan and Mohammed Al-Fatil also got on the scoresheet.

After a lacklustre opening 25 minutes, Al Nassr took the lead through a powerful strike from Al-Hassan, who drilled the ball into the bottom left corner from outside the box.

Right before halftime, Ronaldo doubled the lead from the spot after Sadio Mane headed the ball onto an opposition defender’s arm inside the penalty area. The 39-year-old sent the goalkeeper the wrong way for his fifth goal of the competition this season.

Ronaldo scored his second of the night in the 78th minute after running onto and heading in a perfectly flighted cross from Mane.

Substitute Al-Fatil landed the final blow 10 minutes later after using his head to direct the ball into the back of the net after meeting an in-swinging corner from Marcelo Brozovic.

Despite the win, Al Nassr remains in third in its group with 16 points from seven games, while Al Wasl is fifth with 11 points from the same number of matches.
