La Liga 2024-25: Real Madrid files official complaint to RFEF over controversial VAR calls in Espanyol loss

Real Madrid formally submitted a claim to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Monday regarding the scandalous refereeing and VAR performance during its La Liga 2024-25 match against RCD Espanyol on February 1, 2025.

According to a club statement, “The events at the RCDE Stadium surpassed any reasonable margin of human error or debatable interpretation. This match represents the culmination of a demonstrably flawed officiating system, where decisions against Real Madrid have reached an unacceptable level of manipulation, distorting the integrity of the competition. Two particularly egregious refereeing decisions highlight, yet again, the biased treatment Real Madrid receives.”

Los Blancos lost the match 0-1, which bought down its lead to just one point with Atletico Madrid chasing.
