Argentina top-flight match suspended after linesman hit by object

The Argentine Primera Division match between Godoy Cruz and Talleres Cordoba was suspended late on Tuesday after an assistant referee was struck by an object from the crowd.

The main referee, Yael Falcon Perez, picked up what looked like a thin tube from the pitch after he called for medical assistance for linesman Diego Martin, who was seen bleeding from his forehead.

The top-flight match was earlier halted for a lengthy review after a header from midfielder Nicolas Fernandez, which would have put Godoy ahead in the 37th minute, was disallowed due to an offside call by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

The clash was then suspended just before the start of the second half with the score at 0-0 after the assistant referee was struck by the thrown object, which caused a cut on his forehead.
