Four cancer-affected children made honorary police officers for a day in Bengaluru
In a heartwarming gesture, the Bengaluru City Police made four cancer-affected children, all in their teens, honorary police officers for a day, giving them a rare opportunity to experience their dream of wearing the khaki uniform, on Tuesday to mark the World Cancer Day.
They received the guard of honour along with City Police Commissioner B. Dayananda at the Traffic Management Centre (TMC). The four children – two boys and two girls – dressed in police uniforms, were welcomed with a grand salute by senior officers.
Officers took them around the TMC to show how they manage the traffic of the city. The children even went with the police in patrolling vehicles interacting with officers and even gave mock commands to junior personnel.
The four children selected for this honour have a dream of becoming police officers or to serve in the Army. For a few hours, they were not just patients fighting an illness but heroes in uniform, realising their dreams.
